Fire on the mountain

Forest fires can turn the most idyllic scene into a barren landscape, this is part of the Hayman burn near Cheeseman Reservior.
These trees on Mt. Falcon are some of the survivors of a fire that took quite a bit of timber in 1988.

The thinning that you can see here probably deserves the credit for their survival.
